(Mar. 21, 2014, updated 6:10 p.m.) -- At its Mar. 13 meeting, the Belmont Shore Residents Association posed three questions to three of the candidates (Suzie Price, Stephen Bello and Jack Rosenberg) seeking to become the next Third District Councilmember. LBREPORT.com subsequently obtained a recording of their responses and we provide on-demand access to it below.

We also independently contacted the two other candidates (Jim Lewis and Martha Flores Gibson) who appeared at a previous BSRA meeting and invited them to provide responses to the questions. Mr. Lewis responded on Mar. 20 and his response is linked below; a response from Ms. Flores Gibson is pending and will be added as received..

The questions asked by BSRA were:

    • 1. We know that all of you want to support an active business economy and jobs within Long Beach. What specific policies and actions would you take to benefit the residents of Belmont Shore?

    • 2. How would you address the concerns of residents about their quality of life and property values due to disturbances from bar and restaurant patrons late at night?

    • 3. Do you have any specific ideas on how to improve the parking difficulties in residenital streets and commercial streets within Belmont Shore AND as a Councilmember, would you have voted to demolish the home at 205 La Verne for a parking lot?

Mar. 13 BSRA meeting responses (candidates Suzie Price, Stephen Bello, Jack Rosenberg)

Telephone responses: Jim Lewis (Mar. 20) and Martha Flores Gibson (Mar. 21)

[LBREPORT.com misread part of the first question to Mr. Lewis, mangling the text by saying an "active community" instead of "active business economy." This was entirely LBREPORT.com's error and when we realized it we offered Mr. Lewis a chance to record a different response but he remained comfortable with the answer he gave.]
