The independent expenditure committee's initial contributors are: :

• Shore Restaurant Group, LLC, $5,000 (Jan. 29)
• Panama Joe's Investors, Hermosa Beach: $5,000 (Feb. 4)
• Dogz Bar Grill, LLC Long Beach, $5,000 (Feb. 6)

The $15,000 contributed by the three entities can be used to help elect Mr. Rosenberg but can't legally be coordinated or connected with Mr. Rosenberg or his Council campaign.

Compare: contributions directly to a Council candidate-run campaign are limited to $350 in the April election cycle. Mr. Rosenberg's campaign reported raising a little over $10,000 contributions plus a $10,000 loan from Mr. Rosenberg to his campaign as of Dec. 31. Contributions to the Rosenberg campaign included $250 from Bill Lorbeer, a 2nd St. commercial property owner [for identification purposes here: also chairs City Hall's Belmont Shore Parking & Business Improvement Area Advisory Commission.]

The independent expenditure committee seeking to elect Mr. Rosenberg is the first we've seen specifically organized to date in an April 2014 City Council race.
