(May 15, 2016, 5:50 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has learned of the sudden -- and very untimely -- passing of longtime Democratic Party activist Eric Bradley.

Mr. Bradley was a knowledgeable and respected presence in Democratic Party politics at the Long Beach, L.A. County and statewide levels. His Facebook page notes that he worked at the CA Democratic Party and previously at South County Democrats United. He was (is) on the June ballot for a spot on the L.A. County Democratic Party Central Committee (Assembly District 70.)

Mr. Bradley's Facebook page is filling with condolences at late afternoon (Sunday May 15.) Retired Long Beach Councilman and area attorney Evan Braude commented to LBREPORT.com that Mr. Bradley "was a good friend and someone whose advice I could always trust."

Vice Chair of the CA Democratic Party, Eric Bauman, described Mr. Bradley as a "Democratic activist extraordinaire."

Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D, Lakewood) wrote on Facebook: "Eric Bradley passed away doing what he loved -- organizing for candidates and causes he cared passionately about. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on through the tens of thousands who counted on him as a mentor, colleague and dear friend."

Mr. Bradley grew up in Arcadia, studied Poli Sci at UCSB...and lived in Long Beach.

There's an inherent tension between political operatives and reporters, but in our encounters with him, Mr. Bradley never tried to mislead us or feed us inaccurate information. He was a party partisan and simultaneously a straight-up political pro.

We'll provide information on arrangements as we learn them.

LBREPORT.com sends our condolences to Mr. Bradley's wife Gail, to his son Anders and to his many friends.

[On May 15, Mr. Bradley's son, Anders, indicated to friends that he's asking those wishing to offer condolences not phone his mother at least for a time.]
