(Dec. 27, 2016) -- As reported on our front page yesterday (Dec. 26), LBREPORT.com has learned of the passing of Fred Khammar (Dec. 23), a Belmont Shore figure prominent for his role in operating Alfredo's Beach Club at the Belmont Plaza Pier.

Mr. Khammar was the perennially upbeat, seemingly tireless force organizing and promoting multiple events at the location including Moonlight Movies on the Beach, a "Pirate Invasion" of the Belmont Pier, Tiki Beach Festival, July 4th Party on the Pier and Kids' Fishing Rodeo. The location also became a memory-maker for countless weddings and reunions.
