Snow Forecast For Bixby Knolls on Sunday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.


Bixby Knolls snow(November 18, 2004) -- Bixby Knolls will see snow on Sunday, Dec. 5 -- thirty tons of the 32-degree delight -- from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Snow in Bixby Knolls" is a LB tradition presented by the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association.

It's the kick-off event for the District's holiday season, historically held on the first Sunday of December

Bixby Knolls snowThe Bixby Knolls BIA will assure the arrival of the frosty treat on a snowfield for classic family winter fun on Atlantic Ave. between Roosevelt Road and San Antonio Drive.

Snowmen and plenty of clones are expected (like this fellow to the left) along with sled runs.

In addition to lots of man-made snow, there'll be pony rides, a rock climbing wall, train rides, a giant slide.

Santa Claus is expected to arrive on an antique fire truck.

Yes, of course kids will have opportunities to let Santa know their special wishes.

Bixby Knolls snowAnd in a convenient coincidence for adults, there'll be plenty of outdoor shopping with local artisans showcasing the finest in unique, hand-crafted items.

In addition, there'll be tasty delights from regional food vendors, snack stops and local restaurants available at the event.

Live bands, local musicians and dance groups will entertain throughout the day. The Main Stage will be home to the Blues Buffet Band and the kids from Broadway on Bixby and will feature new artists Kelly's Lot, a blues band; and Tanieya, an R&B singer.

A new and completely different entertainment act this year is the Magical Voyage Magic Show. Rounding out the holiday festivities are the Bixby Knolls Christian Church Handbell Choir and the International Peace Choir.

There'll also be information booths from community groups and businesses.

Admission to "Snow in Bixby Knolls" is free, as is parking. All proceeds from the event benefit the Bixby Knolls Revitalization Program.
