Who's Offered Boeing What, And With What Real Dollar Costs/Benefits For Taxpayers?

(December 13, 2013. 10:15 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com dislikes corporate welfare. We disliked the automaker bailouts. We disliked the Wall Street bailouts.
We'd welcome having Boeing 777 jobs in Long Beach on our city's multiple merits. Long Beach has a skilled workforce. Long Beach is a superlative location in many ways. Boeing would be smart to do the work here. That said, we're not among those willing to After his political allies helped make California a too-often business-unfriendly place to do business, exactly what is CA Governor Jerry Brown now offering Boeing and -- very important -- exactly how much revenue will this bring to the State of California and the City of Long Beach? Those running Boeing certainly expect to know what their company will receive in real dollar terms. Taxpayers deserve respectful reciprocity here. Those offering public money and resources need to explain exactly how much in real dollars the public's state and city governments will receive from whatever those state or city governments are offering. Chanting the mantra of "jobs" alone doesn't suffice. Nor does some third party's non-binding prediction/estimate/forecast of supposed "regional" or other "economic impacts." Unless public officials can quantify in public dollars what the public will receive, Long Beach and CA taxpayers should be very wary of whatever corporate welfare may have been offered to Boeing...and by whom. And yes, it would be nice to know what it is and who offered it. Opinions expressed by LBREPORT.com, our contributors and/or our readers are not necessarily those of our advertisers.
