(April 12, 2002) -- A man sustained two gunshot wounds on April 11 at about 9:35 p.m. in the area of 7th St. and Walnut Ave. in the Second Council district.

LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Tabing told LBReport.com a call initially reported a fight between many individuals which was upgraded to a shooting. Police believe that during the fight, someone pulled a gun and shot the victim twice.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is now reported in stable condition. Police took numerous witness statements and searched the area but the shooter slipped away.

Police said they hope the witness statements will assist in eventually catching the shooter.
