[April 19 update] LB media (including LBReport.com) were previously told roughly 3,000 additional ballots received on election day (absentees and provisionals) remained to be counted, but the final totals reflected roughly 6,000 additional votes in the Mayor's race.

On April 19, Ms. Becky Burleson in the LB City Clerk's office told LBReport.com a software glich in the L.A. County clerk's office prevented the City Clerk from conducting several days of signature verification over a period of several days before the election. This left an additional 3,000 absentee ballots (received before election day) to be canvassed and signature verified in addition to roughly 3,000 absentee and provisional ballots received on election day.

Ms. Burleson said the 3,000 additional absentees received before election were publicly canvassed (letters opened and processed in full view of campaign workers from all parties) along with the roughly 3,000 absentee and provisional ballots received on election day. [end update]
