Mayor Beverly O'Neill announced today that she has received the endorsement of City Councilman and primary election opponent Ray Grabinski in her re-election run-off bid.
Councilman Grabinski stated, "After working with Mayor Beverly O'Neill in my capacity as a council member and as a private citizen, and after careful consideration of all the issues and candidates, I am hereby endorsing Mayor O'Neill in the June 4th run-off election. I believe Mayor O'Neill offers the dedication and loyalty that our City will need in years to come."
Mayor O'Neill responded, "Councilman Grabinski is one of our city's most respected elected leaders. I am indeed honored and gratified by his
confidence and support. I look forward to continuing to work with Councilman Grabinski to make our community an even better place to live and work."
Ray Grabinski ran a strong campaign in the primary election, finishing with 7,490 votes or 20% of the total. O'Neill's campaign consultant, Parke Skelton, summarized the importance of Grabinski's endorsement.
"With 3rd place finisher Norm Ryan decision to continue his campaign, the 20% of the electorate captured by Councilman Grabinski represents the only remaining bloc of primary election votes up for grabs in the general election. The calculus is simple: If Beverly breaks even with Grabinski voters, she wins. With Councilman Grabinski's endorsement, she will do substantially better than that."
