ELB Sexual Assault In Victim's Home, Vicinity Studebaker at 7th St. 2 a.m.

LBPD investigating possibility may be related to other ELB sexual assaults


(April 19, 2002) -- A 54 year old woman was sexually assaulted in her ELB home on April 6 at roughly 2 a.m., leaving her so traumatized she had been unable to report the crime earlier.

LBPD believes the attacker entered the home in the area of 7th St. and Studebaker Road through an unlocked door and attacked the woman asleep in her bed.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, 25-35 years old, 5'9" - 5'11" with a slender build.

LBPD says its detectives "are investigating the possibility that this incident may or may not be related to other sexual assaults in the East Long Beach area. We urge everyone to report any suspicious persons or activity to the police immediately."

Anyone who may have information about this crime is asked to contact LB Sex Crimes Detective Randi Castillo at (562) 570-7372.

Police also urged residents to "take every precaution when security their residences." LBPD invited anyone needing home security iformation to contact LBPD's Community Relations Dept. at (562) 570-7215.
