Car pulls up, shooter exits, shoots victims, car drives off
(April 12, 2002) -- Two men were shot while walking on a Wrigley district sidewalk at midmorning today.
LBPD says that at roughly 8:26 a.m. in the 1900 block of Pacific Ave. (6th Council district), three individuals were walking in front of a liquor store when a car pulled up to the curb, one occupant jumped out, ran up behind the pedestrians and opened fire.
Two were hit, one victim remained wounded in place, the other shooting victim and uninjured accompanying pedestrian sought refuge in a residence in the 2000 block of Cedar Ave. The shooting victims were transported to LB Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
Police describe the suspect vehicle as a two door, light blue vehicle. It reportedly continued southbound on Pacific Ave., turned right on PCH and was last seen travelling westbound on PCH.
