Uncertain as we post if shootings related
(April 13, 2003) -- It's probably not what the Chamber of Commerce wants during the Grand Prix weekend: four people shot during a fifteen minute period.
Details are sketchy as we post. LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Paul LeBaron tells LBReport.com the shootings took place on Saturday night April 12 as follows:
9:26 p.m.: 1 person shot, 1100 block Salt Lake St. (1 block S. of Hill, b/w MLK & Orange). Officers responded to a call of shots fired into a building in 1000 block E. 21st St. They found a male Hispanic victim to the rear of a building on Salt Lake St. with a shooting wound in the leg and a grazing wound in the head.
9:29 p.m., 2 people shot: 10th/Alamitos. Both victims were male Asians. One was shot in the stomach, the other shot was in the hand. The crime is being investigated by gang detectives.
| 9:40 p.m.: 1 person shot, 20th/LB Blvd. Officers were in the area when the shooting occurred. The victim is a male Black.

LBPD PIO LeBaron indicated that all shooting victims are expected to live.
