Heartwell Park Rally "Supporting Our Troops, Country & President" Scheduled Sun. April 6
(April 4, 2003) -- Proudamericans.Org, a Seal Beach based group supporting "our troops, country and president" plans to hold a rally at LB's Heartwell Park (Carson St. and Clark Ave.) on Sunday, April 6 from 1-4 p.m.
In a written release, Proudamericans.org (describing itself as "the silent majority") says it will hold a "rally [and] prayers for troops, country MIA's, POW's, KIA and victims" and invites "all who take pride in America to join in showing their support for our country, our troops and our President."
The group says it "does not encourage war, but believes that our leadership found war necessary, and it supports this war." Its release asks all attending to carry an American Flag. The group's release states in part:
The group was formed as a result of all the anti-war, anti-American, anti-Government, anti President events that have been getting the recent media's attention. Proud Americans (PA's) believe that a silent majority of people love the United States and support the government and its position on Iraq and the war on terrorism.
The Proud American Organization's attitude is that the President of the United States is best informed to make decisions in national matters, that the President, with his vast resources, is better at making choices on how to handle the situation and security of our country. Having said that, the rally and prayers are for the MIA's, POW's. KIA and victims as well as our troops, country and the President.
Proudamericans.org lists similar rallies that have been held or are planned in communities across the country.
