City Clerk says Bozeman campaign has paperwork due but campaign says filing threshold not reached
(April 7, 2004, updated) -- As of April 6 at 4:00 p.m., the LB City Clerk's office said it had not received campaign disclosure statements -- listing campaign contributors, the amount they contributed, campaign loans and payments for the period February 29 through March 27 -- in hard copy form from the campaigns of 8th district City Council candidates Terry Jensen and Kennedy Collins and 6th district Council candidates Regina Chaney and Lewis Lester.
Campaign data from these candidates for this period was likewise absent on the City Clerk's internet e-filing system required of LB candidates as of January 1, however the campaigns did submit their statements for the period spanning January 1 through February 28.
City Clerk staff indicated it believes Sonny Bozeman's 2d district write-in campaign has paperwork to file, but campaign consultant Tracy Kittinger told LBReport.com the campaign had not reached the triggering threshold of $1,000.
The filing deadline for statements covering the period of February 29 through March 27 period was April 1. Failure to file timely statements by the April 1 could subject the campaigns to penalties of $10 per day.
[update] Mr. Lester told LBReport.com, "Lewis Lester did not submit the second preelection campaign statement by the April 1, 2004 filing deadline in order to provide additional time for several vendors to forward their final invoices for the reporting period. The committee intends to file campaign finance statements for the second and third preelection reporting periods on Friday, April 9, the next filing deadline."
Additional candidate comment is pending as we post.
