(April 13, 2005) -- A Signal Hill business near the corner of Orange Ave. and Wardlow Rd. was the victim of an armed robbery shortly after noon on Monday.
Signal Hill PD tells LBReport.com that at approximately 12:48 p.m. on April 11, a male Hispanic entered the business in the 3300 block of Orange Ave. and allegedly demanded money from an employee at the counter. The employee at the counter yelled something to an employee in the back of the business...and the suspect then allegedly pulled out a silver revolver, pointed it at the employee and demanded money.
The employee handed over some cash...but the suspect went behind the counter and allegedly grabbed the remainder of the cash.
By this time, a second employee had come to the front of the business...and the suspect allegedly instructed both employees to get on the ground, not to call the police and not to get up.
The suspect then exited out the front door, jumped into a white vehicle waiting for him containing two to three other subjects. The vehicle drove east on Wardlow Rd., out of sight.
The lost cash amounted to about $400. The suspects are at large. We have no suspect descriptions as we post.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Signal Hill PD.
