(April 6, 2007) -- LBPD says a man was killed by a driver on April 5 at about 3:00 a.m. in the drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant in the 700 block of LB Blvd. when the victim crawled close to a waiting vehicle to retrieve some money on the ground...and the driver of a vehicle drove off, striking the victim.
In a release, LBPD says its preliminary investigation indicates an unknown male driver was in a blue Ford pick-up truck equipped with a white Snug-Top camper shell in the drive-thru lane...and drove off after striking a man who'd crawled close to the vehicle to retrieve some money on the ground.
The victim, who died of his injuries, was identified by the L.A. County Coroner's office this morning as Andre Young, 50.
The driver was last seen traveling westbound on 7th Street.
