(May 3, 2008) -- As reported earlier today (Saturday) on LBReport.com's front page (www.lbreport.com), LBPD disclosed that another downtown area business has been robbed.
This time a sharp instrument was NOT used -- but bodily force was -- says LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Dina Zapalski.
The robbery took place at midafternoon in the area of Pine Ave/10th St. on Friday May 2 at about 3:00 p.m. (information released by LBPD today).
LBPD says its Detectives are reviewing this incident to see if it may be related to four other robberies committed in the downtown area...in which a sharp instrument was used.
This time the victim was (again) a lone female clerk working in her business. The suspect is described as male Black about 35-45 yrs old. He used bodily force during robbery and took an undisclosed amount of money.
LBPD says in a release that to increase public safety, it reminds the public:
Program LBPD's alternate emergency phone number -- (562) 435-6711 -- into your cell phone (because 911 from cell phones goes to CHP)
Keep windows of your business clear of advertising which can screen an intruder from outside view; avoid working alone; have phone easily accessible
Be sure security cameras are working; consider upgrading to digital system
