(April 7, 2008) -- Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal's campaign for state Assembly campaign today (April 7) announced the endorsement of the CA Chapter of the Sierra Club.
At the same time, Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga announced the endorsement of the CA Teachers Association.
Quoted in a Lowenthal campaign release, Bill Magavern, State Director of the [CA] Sierra Club, said:
"Bonnie Lowenthal has been in the forefront in crafting strong and creative solutions to our state's pressing environmental problems. She is a leader in the fight to clean up the Los Angeles and Long Beach Ports and has promoted some of the strongest local conservation policies in the state. The Sierra Club knows that Bonnie Lowenthal will be a fighter for a greener and healthier future. That’s why we endorse her for State Assembly."
The campaign notes that Vice Mayor Lowenthal has previously been endorsed by the CA League of Conservation Voters.
Meanwhile, Councilwoman Reyes Uranga today announced the endorsement of the CA Teachers Association.
"The CTA recognized my strong advocacy for teachers. I consider the endorsement extremely important in the 54th Assembly district race," Councilwoman Reyes Uranga said via cellphone [on a less than clear connection; release text reportedly coming].
