(May 3, 2008) -- At roughly 5:00 p.m. today (Sat. May 3), LBPD responded to the 1600 block of Stanton Pl. (southeast of PCH/Cherry) and found a male Black approx. 18 yrs old suffering from a gunshot wound.
LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Dina Zapalski says the victim was transported to a hospital with a NON-life-threatening wound.
The suspects are three male Blacks who allegedly approached victim on foot and fired at him.
The neighborhood is just north of the 15th/Cherry area where 11 year-old Jose Bailey was shot to death while standing outside his residence in mid-March. Sgt. Zapalski said there's no indication at present that today's crime is related to the Bailey shooting.
LBPD is investigating today's shooting as possibly gang related with no determination on this at early evening.
