  • (April 5, 2009) -- A man was found fatally shot in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Junipero Ave. just north of Anaheim St. on Friday night (April 3).

The location is just north from the kick-off spot for Sunday's [April 5] Cambodian New Year Parade and Celebration.

Officers responded to a "shots fired" call at about 9:20 p.m....and discovered the male adult victim with a gun shot wound(s) to his torso, seated in the driver seat of a vehicle.

LBPD described the victim as a man in his 20's. At predawn Sunday, the L.A. County Coroner's office identified the victim as Darong Yi, age 25.

[The male victim in this April 3 killing has the same last name as the female victim in an April 2 murder...but LBPD says the two killings are not connected.]

There's no suspect information at present...and LBPD says its Homicide Detectives "are following up on all leads."

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information regarding it is asked to contact LBPD Homicide Detectives William Matsubara or Todd Johnson at (562) 570-7244
