(April 17, 2009, updated April 18) -- If the LB-L.A. area has clear skies, we'll have a unique International Space Station (ISS) viewing oportunity very early Sunday morning (April 19). As we previously reported, on Saturday, beginning at 5:25 a.m. the ISS was visible over LB, passing far to the south over Mexico...but Sunday morning's pass-by (basically over Santa Maria) should be considerably brighter. The viewing opportunity should come Sunday morning at 5:51 a.m., appearing above the horizon in the WSW and traveling to the NE before it fades at 5:57 a.m. It will rise to a maximum of 55 degrees (90 degrees would be straight overhead) at about 5:54 a.m. above the horizon as it passes to the northwest over the southern end of Central CA. ![]() Sun.
