Two Men Plead "No Contest" To Felony Charges In Attack On Two Gay Men Near LB's Gay/Lesbian Center

(April 5, 2012) -- Two men accused of attacking two gay men near LB's Gay & Lesbian Center on Halloween night 2011 have pleased "no contest" -- the equivalent of a guilty plea regarding criminal charges -- to felony crimes as their case was about to go to trial today (April 5).
In a release, the L.A. County District Attorney's office says both defendants received state prison terms although one will serve his sentence in L.A. County jail. Deputy District Attorney Robert Hight said Marquise Lucas, 19, and Sierus Dunbar, 28, both pleaded no contest to one count each of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Lucas also admitted a hate crime allegation and a great bodily injury allegation. Long Beach Superior Court Judge Gary Ferrari sentenced him to six years in state prison.
