(April 9, 2012, updated 8:25 p.m.) -- Don't tell Karel Bouley he's a crime victim. He acknowledges he was robbed but refuses to accept victim status. He's furious that someone stole items from his Long Beach property over the weekend. He lives in the area of 7th St./Ohio-Molino Ave. It's in the Rose Park area in the 2nd Council district...and Karel says it's not the first time he and his neighbors have experienced things like this...and worse.

The outspoken talk radio host, known on-air simply as "Karel" (pronounced ka-RELL) was heard for years on KFI radio (with his late husband Andrew) and now broadcasts weekends on KGO, San Francisco and weekdays on several stations via syndication from his LB home.

Karel described in initial text below (from his website www.radiokrl.com, echoed on his Facebook page) briefly what happened to him...and when we contacted him and identified ourselves as from Long Beach, he gave us an earful.

Below is Karel's text description of what happened to him

Today, I discovered that all five of my motorcycle jackets were stolen. Right out of my garage where they have been for years. Over $3000 in jackets. But it's not the price, it's the invasion.

First, two were very special. They were given to me by Andrew, my late husband. One we bought at a pawn shop. It was supposed to be $100 but when we got up there they said $150 because it "takes more leather to wrap around someone your size..." It was a 1950s Motorcycle jacket, and I've had it 20 years. The second, a black IOU jacket, Andrew gave me for my birthday. It turned out to be a motorcycle jacket, he didn't know, and I ended up a biker.

Both, taken, along with my AlpineStars Gortex from Ireland, My leather and my city collection. Each meaning something to me. And then there's the invasion. The violation of privacy.

The fact that while I was sleeping or watching TV someone was in my garage. Alley, my 14 y/o is dying of cancer. She'll be going any day now at home, with money I can barely afford. And now I'm robbed.

Last week, someone came in the back door, it was unlocked, about 11pm. There's been a huge upswing in home invasion robberies in Long Beach...if Atilla hadn't run after them, who knows what would have happened. In the last three months someone has crapped in front of my garage three times. Robbed, crap, home invaders, dog dying...

Now, before you say why not leave..l.if I could I would consider it. Hell, I'd buy a condo for $350k in san francisco or l.a. tomorrow if I could. If my FICO weren't 589 or so thanks to banks and credit card companies branding me a credit criminal.

THey can't pay their bills, and go bankrupt and we bail them out. They loan each other money and take ours. But, we get in financial trouble, and need help recovering, and we can't get a loan because a number they made up to judge us is bad. What would their FICO score be I wonder? Wells Fargo? B of A? What would the FICO of the U.S. be right about now. Worse than mine I'm sure.

I want to be in L.A or San Francisco. I want night life, I want culture, I want men, eligible men to meet and go out with. I want a larger circle of friends that invite me to events and parties and dinner. I want to be able to go to plays and theatre because it's only 10 minutes away. I want to be able to audition for things and go to studios and I want to go out to clubs where people in the entertainment industry go. I want to live in West Hollywood or San Francisco. And I can afford a payment on about $300k. So, that's a condo. I have a house. A big house. Give up a big house for a small condo....even if I could get credit.

See. So I sit, terrified. Gun and taser by my side. Hoping tonight is not my last night with Alley. Alarm on. Door secured to garage, studio, house. Trapped in my own home in so many ways, literally and figuratively.

Get more dogs, barbed wire, cactus...oh yes, I've heard it all. What a way to live.

A nice door man building sounds lovely right about now.
