(April 21, 2013, 6:15 a.m.) -- As first flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page last night, two shootings occurred in Long Beach last night (April 20, the day before the "Long Beach Grand Prix") within half an hour of each other. In one shooting, the victim was wounded (details below); in the other shooting, the victim died (coverage, click here).
In very early midnight hour information, LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says that at about 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of Locust Street & Del Amo Blvd regarding a shots call and found a man (adult) who had been hit by gunfire. The victim was transported to a hospital with what appeared to be Last night's Del Amo/Locust shooting comes just under two weeks after an April 7 multiple victim shooting in 300 block of E. Home St., about two blocks north of Del Amo near Locust in which a male victim died (LBREPORT.com coverage here). Two weeks before that fatal shooting, on Mar 22 in the area of Del Amo Blvd./LB Blvd., a 10 year old boy was hit by gunfire while sitting next to his parents inside their vehicle while at a gas station (LBREPORT.com coverage here and here). Last night's two NLB shootings come just under nine days after after a man was shot to death (April 11) near downtown in the area of 7th/Alamitos/MLK Ave. on the border of the 1st (Garcia) and 2nd (Lowenthal) Council districts (coverage here). On April 15, a man was shot and survived in the 1400 block of Cherry Ave. at the western end of the 4th Council district (coverage here) Further as it develops on on LBREPORT.com.
