City Auditor Doud Runs/Completes Boston Marathon In Roughly 3:37, Bixby Knolls Biz Ass'n Chief Blair Cohn and Fiancee Alissa Sablan Volunteer To Help Runners At Finish Line

(April 21, 2014, updated text and photos added) -- City Auditor Laura Doud completed today's (April 21) Boston Marathon, crossing the finish net in 3:37:41 and reaching the finish gun position at 3:40:55. [Photo right courtesy of Ms. Doud.]

Ms. Doud has done it before. She ran the 2012 Boston Marathon, and qualified to run the 2013 Boston Marathon but chose to remain in Long Beach, avoiding the terrorist attack that killed three runners and injured/maimed over 200.

City Auditor Doud emails these comments to LBREPORT.com:

A great day for America and Boston! Feeling very grateful for a memorable and moving experience at the Boston Marathon today.

There was a moment of silence for those who lost their lives last year and those who suffered from the explosions.

An American won the race for the 1st time in 31 years -- way to go, Meb!

Record-number spectators who were unbelievable -- cheering their hearts out! A little girl handed me a bag of her Easter candy -- jelly beans never tasted so good!

The police and armed forces were in full force -- so grateful for those who keep us safe every day.

Perfect weather!

Tremendous support from everyone at home -- it was a huge boost!

And Boston reclaimed its finish line today!

A very memorable day! I appreciate everyone's support!

Also in Boston for today's Marathon were Long Beach's Blair Cohn, Exec. Dir. of the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Ass'n and his fiancee Alissa Sablan, not as runners but to help runners at the finish line.

Mr. Cohn wrote on Facebook:

"The most inspiring day in a long time. We were surrounded by a sea of humanity where spirits soared. Both runners and volunteers alike were humble and appreciative of one another. All were especially proud to come together for the great American City of Boston. It was big. It was bigger than us. The day helped to put things into perspective. Happy to have been here, with the people, to contribute our part of this experience."

Finacee Alissa wrote: "I am exhausted from my 10 hour volunteer shift but feeling so grateful to have had this experience, THIS YEAR, in THIS CITY!! Boston showed the world just how STRONG they are today and I am happy to have been a part of it!!...Cherry on top was seeing another side of Blair, he was absolutely amazing with the athletes; talking them through the pain, assisting them as their bodies completely shut down and walking with them to find their families. I'm so proud of him!"
