(April 30, 2015) -- As flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page this morning, a 3.4 magnitude (downgraded from initial 3.6) earthquake with an epicenter near Carson struck at 7:01 a.m. today (April 30.) The jolt was lightly felt in LB, but is an attention-getter since it's near Newport-Inglewood fault that triggered 1933 Long Beach [actually nearer Huntington Beach epicenter] earthquake (see USGS shake intensity map below.) As with all earthquakes, there is a 5% chance that this morning's temblor is a foreshock of a bigger one coming, but that immediate risk diminishes over time, mostly gone 72 hours after the quake.
