  • A concerned resident in the area saw two male subjects jump a fence into the back yard of a residence and called police
  • Officers arrived on scene and one subject fled on foot;
  • A foot pursuit was initiated and the suspect was caught a short distance away and taken into custody;
  • A perimeter was established in an attempt to locate the second suspect;
  • The assistance of a K-9 was requested;
  • K-9 responded and made the P/A [louspeaker] announcement for the suspect to come out;
  • An officer then observed the second suspect in a nearby backyard and ordered him out;
  • The suspect surrendered and was also taken into custody;
  • Officers discovered a screen had been removed and pry marks on a window where the suspects had [allegedly] attempted to enter the residence;
  • The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Ismael Cuevas of LB and a 17-year-old from LB. They have both been booked for residential burglary

PIO Pratt adds: "The LBPD would like to commend the resident who saw suspicious activity and picked up the phone to report it immediately. As a result, they prevented a home from being burglarized, and other homes the suspects may have eventually targeted."
