(April 6, 2015) -- Updating a story LBREPORT.com has been following and updating on our front page for much of Easter Sunday (April 5), a man who'd climbed up into a tree at midday in the area of 3rd St./Orange Ave, and appeared to be unwilling or unable to get down on his own (drawing an LBPD and LBFD response), ultimately came down on his own shortly before midnight. LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Megan Zabel says that at about 11:45 p.m., the man came down of his own free will, told officers he was ready to seek medical attention for a mental evaluation and was transported to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. He isn't being charged with any crime at this time. [Scroll down for further] . |

The incident began shortly before noon; LBPD and LBFD initially responded; LBPD closed off some nearby streets but ultimately concluded that the man wasn't wanted for a crime and wasn't believed to be an immediate threat to himself or the community. Accordingly, LB police officers monitored from a distance until the situation resolved...and fortunately no one was physically injured. (The public will ultimately bear the costs of police, fire and public service personnel deployed to the area for half a day on Easter Sunday.) [Editor's note: LBREPORT.com reported what was taking place an advisory, not as some type of hyperventilating "breaking news." We're glad this incident ended safely.] blog comments powered by Disqus Recommend LBREPORT.com to your Facebook friends:
