(April 20, 2015) -- US FDA says Whole Foods Markets is "voluntarily recalling packaged raw macadamia nuts due to possible Salmonella contamination. FDA says :Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The recalled items were sold in CA as well as AR, AZ, CO, HI, KS, LA, NM, NV, OK, TX, and UT Whole Foods Market Stores.

"No illnesses have been reported to-date. Based upon routine testing conducted by an FDA-contracted laboratory, it was determined that the raw macadamia nuts tested positive for Salmonella," FDA says.

"Customers who have purchased this product should discard it and may bring in their receipt for a full refund."

Long Beach has a Whole Foods Market location at 6550 E. PCH.
