(April 14, 2016) -- Following-up on preliminary LBPD information we reported shortly after the crime occurred, LBREPORT.com provides the text of an April 14 LBPD release with additional information:

[LBPD release text] On April 13, 2016, at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue regarding unknown trouble call.

Upon arrival officers found a male adult armed with a knife suffering from an apparent self-inflicted stab wound. The subject was uncooperative and refused officers commands to drop the knife and let them into the residence to check the well being of other possible occupants. Offices showed great restraint when dealing with the armed subject who was not complying with their commands. They had to use less lethal options to take him into custody, and prevented a potential deadly force encounter.

Once officers were able to detain the uncooperative subject they entered the location and found an adult female deceased in another part of the residence from an apparent stab wound to the upper torso.

The victim has been identified as Karina Duch a 40 year-old resident of Los Angeles.
