Follow-Up: LBPD Investigates, D.A. Charges Two Women And A Man In North-of-Downtown Transgender Stabbing; One Woman And Man Plead "No Contest" To Assault With Deadly Weapon And Are Sentenced To State Prison; Other Woman Faces Attempted Murder Plus Hate Crime Allegations, Faces Trial And Maximum Life Sentence If Convicted

(April 14, 2016) -- LBREPORT.com follows up on a crime we reported just hours after it took occurred, in which LBPD said at the time that a transgender adult was stabbed in the area of PCH/Locust (about a mile and a half north of downtown LB) after a dispute with several female and male adults.

Following an LBPD investigation, the L.A. County District Attorney's office filed charges against two women and a man in connection with what took place. One woman, Tishia Marice Gray, 28 and a man, Davon Lamar Ellout, 22, pleaded "no contest" to assault with a deadly weapon; Gray was sentenced to three years in state prison; Ellout was sentenced to four years in state prison.

A third defendant, Glyness Chinique Felton, 34, is charged with one count of attempted murder in a felony complaint that includes hate crime and knife allegations.

The DA's complaint alleges that the victim, a transgender women, was walking down the street when Felton, Gray and Ellout allegedly began yelling derogatory remarks at her.

[LA County DA Release text] The defendants then allegedly followed the victim into a store where Gray punched the victim. Felton allegedly pulled out a knife to stab the victim, while Gray and Ellout continued the assault, prosecutors said.

Ellout then grabbed a wet floor sign and slammed it over the victim’s head, prosecutors added.

Felton is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing setting on April 20 in Department S01 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch.

If convicted as charged, Felton faces a maximum possible sentence of life in state prison.

The case is being investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
