(April 18, 2018) -- LBREPORT.com has confirmed a story reported first earlier today by Dan Pressburg's North Long Beach News (Facebook platform) that 6th district Council office Chief of Staff John Edmond is exiting his position...and his last City Hall day will be Friday April 20.
Mr. Edmond gave his notice roughly two weeks ago and his new position will be in the private sector (he'd been in the banking industry previously; his new position is not a governmental position.) A memo circulated by Councilman Andrews yesterday (April 17) shared the news with (memo text) "a heavy heart as we lose a valuable asset. John has spent 11 years, a total of almost three terms, in my council office and has never missed a beat in demonstrating his commitment, sharing his professional experience, and always being a significant resource to our staff and constituents." In the memo, Councilman Andrews announced that he's chosen Isabel Arvea as his new Chief of Staff (his former field deputy/district director, currently an assistant administrative analyst in City Hall's Economic Development Dept.) Ms. Arvea is a 6th district resident and currently completing a Masters Degree in Public Administration. [Scroll down for further.] |
Councilman Andrews, re-elected by write-in without a runoff in 2016, is not expected to seek re-election in 2020 and a field of candidates is already lining up to succeed him. Developing.
