ELB Gets Drive-Thru Starbucks

ELB Drive-Thru Starbucks(August 28, 2001) -- ELB will soon sport an urban amenity: a drive-thru Starbucks plans to open August 30 at 2890 Bellflower Blvd., south of Spring. St. (in the "K-Mart" shopping center south of Cal Worthington and Carl's Jr.)

With the firm's logo and colors clearly evident and finishing touches progressing, personnel on site told LBReport.com they'd be open for business Thursday morning. The drive-thru Starbucks will operate 5 a.m. to midnight (Mon-Sat) and 6 a.m. to midnight (Sun). The store is company owned, not a franchise.

ELB Drive-Thru StarbucksThe drive-thru lane will give commuters and neighborhood residents fast access to Starbucks' coffee concoctions and other delicacies. The building also includes a spacious interior for relaxing and neighborhood mingling.

Although the Bellflower Blvd. drive-thru Starbucks is a first for LB, drive-thru Starbucks locations are already open in Signal Hill (Willow St. & Cherry Ave.) and in Lakewood (Candlewood St. between Clark Ave. and Lakewood Blvd.)

LB also boasts several conventional Starbucks locations, one downtown at 242 Pine Ave., two in Belmont Shore (4708 2d St. & 5251 2d St.) and another the Marina Pacifica shopping center (PCH at 2d/Westminster).

LB is also home to several locally grown "It's A Grind" coffee and tea bars which feature non-drive through facilities in ELB (north of Spring at Los Coyotes Diagonal in the "Pavilions" shopping center), Bixby Knolls (Atlantic Ave. between Carson & San Antonio), the Traffic Circle area (PCH near Ximeno) and downtown (Ocean Ave. across from the courthouse). Signal Hill has an "It's a Grind" near Willow and Cherry (near Costco).
