(August 1, 2002) -- LB's Dept of Health and Human Services has reopened the portion of LB's beach water between 6th and 8th Pl which was closed (with water access from 1st Pl. to 8th Pl.) on July 30 after over 800 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the ocean in the area of the downtown marina.
"[C]learance sample testing has indicated the contamination is limited to a smaller portion of the beach front," a LB Dept. of Health & Human Services release said.
Beach water access remains closed from 1st Pl. to 4th Pl.
The Dept. says it will conduct testing daily of the impacted area.
