(August 3, 2004, initial post as breaking news) -- A big rig truck somehow flew off the north 405 freeway offramp to northbound Bellflower Blvd., crashing into the backyard of a home in the 2600 block of Marber Ave. at about 7:30 a.m. today.
LBReport.com was on scene within minutes. TV news helicopters buzzed overhead and TV news vans also arrived.
LBReport.com is proud to post photos below by Mr. Doug Tirado, a computer-savvy, digitally equipped neighbor who captured the scene prior to the arrival of public safety agencies.
LBFD, LBPD and CHP units responded. Miraculously, no injuries were immediately apparent.

The crash, described as "like an explosion" by one neighbor, knocked down a power pole, cutting off power to the immediate area. An SCE worker speculated that power might be returned to the east side of Marber Ave. "within a few hours"...but the westside of Marber (where a power pole is now missing) might take longer.

Neighbors gathered to view the aftermath. Some said they'd be late for work...since the power outage knocked out their electric garage door openers.
Further to follow as newsworthy.
