(August 14. 2005) -- A series of dangerous, violent crimes disrupted the early Sunday morning calm on Aug. 14 in parts of LB just northeast of downtown.
In a written release, LBPD says two male teens (ages 16 and 17) and adult woman (age 26) were shot in the area of 17th/Linden.
About five minutes later, shots rang out (but no victim was spotted) in the area of 20th/MLK. However Signal Hill PD spotted a suspect car matching the description of a car in the first shooting...and a short pursuit ended in a crash in the area of 10th/Olive. Jason Ra, 19, of LB fled on foot, a perimeter was established, and he eventually surrendered to officers. He has been identified as allegedly involved in the first shooting.
LBPD's follow-up investigation led them to two houses in the area. "While officers were at one of the houses, in the 700 block of Gaviota Avenue, a second suspect drove up. He was detained and identified as also being involved in the shooting," the release said. Arrested was Vannak So, 23, of LB.
LBPD says it's seeking a third suspect described as a male Asian, six feet tall, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
LBPD asks anyone with information to call its Gang Detail at (562) 570-7370.
