(August 24, 2006) -- LB's Wrigley district saw police activity in the 2000 block of Magnolia Ave. on Wednesday night...and it turns out to be a homicide.
LBPD says that on August 23 at about 10:40 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 Block of Magnolia Avenue in response to a shots call and found a shooting victim, an African-American male without identification (Coroner's office ID pending), in a mini van in an alley.
The Wrigley district is still reeling from the March 28 murder of off-duty L.A. Sheriff Deput Maria Rosa, who was fatally shot as she was leaving for work from a friend's residence in the 2900 block of Eucalyptus Ave. (and dressed in civilian clothes at the time). LBPD believes robbery was the likely motive in the killing of Deputy Rosa.
LBPD says the motive for the Magnolia Ave. homicide is under investigation and asks anyone with information to call LBPD Homicide Detectives Russ Moss and Teryl Hubert at (562) 570-7244.
