City Mgm't Tells Budget Oversight Committee No Finalized Deals Yet w/ City Employee Unions On Contract Modifications; Chair DeLong Says Council Should Prepare for "Plan B" | ![]() |

(Sept. 1, 2010) -- No finalized deals yet with city employee unions to modify their existing contracts with City Hall? Then tell the Council so we can prepare for "Plan B."
So stated Councilman Gary DeLong on receiving an update from management on labor negotiations during the Aug. 31 meeting of the City Council's Budget Oversight Committee. Director of Human Resources Debbie Mills told the Committe that she didn't have a lot new to report but meetings continue weekly with all the groups and she believes management will have some update at the Sept. 7 Council closed session. Councilman DeLong wasted no words in response: Councilman DeLong: I think as you know from the last couple of meetings, we were looking for the end of August, so today, conclude your negotiations as best as you could and if you did not make progress, then tell the Council that so we can act accordingly with Plan B. So have you finalized any agreements with any of the labor associations? "Plan B" is a series deep cuts in city services that management has proposed if city employee unions don't agree to contract changes. blog comments powered by Disqus
