(Aug. 8, 2010) -- Below are more than forty fabulous photos captured at last night's (Aug. 7) downtown FunkFest by Jeanine Birong. Ms. Birong is a scout and photographer for Long Beach Locations, a LB based business that lists locations for movie/TV productions. A LB resident for more than twenty years, Ms. Birong also shoots events, portraits, products and the environment (examples on her website at www.jeaninebirong.blogspot.com.)

Last night's FunkFest is part of this year's Summer & Music series which runs through August; details are on their website, www.SummerandMusic.com with upcoming events listed following the photos.

Summer and Music has more coming next Friday and Saturday (Aug. 13-14) with Classical Beats, when classically-trained violinist Paul Dateh combines with hip-hop DJ Inka One for what event organizers call "a true 'chocolate in my peanut butter" moment. (This event will take place at Ocean/Lime).

Friday's performance will be preceded at 5:30 p.m. by a panel discussion with artists Freya Bardell and Brian Howe of Greenmeme, Jamilla Vollmann, Development Project Manager, Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, and Erik Qvale, Public Art Consultant, Community Redevelopment Agency Los Angeles

And Saturday's performance will be preceded by a 6:00 p.m. panel discussion on art walks with Jay Lopez of Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk, Susan Obrow, Co-Manager of Culver City Cultural Affairs, Blair Cohn, Executive Director, Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association and Kraig Kojian, President & CEO, Downtown Long Beach Associates

Border Grill (8/13) and Kogi (8/14) trucks will be on-site during Classical Beats performances

On August 28, Summer & Music presents its crown jewel -- BuskerFest -- in the East Village Arts District from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
