Long Beach Sprint Nationals Speedboat Drivers Survive Two Scary Crashes

Photos by Steve Brown

(August 2, 2014) -- The crowd watching the ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals at Long Beach Marine Stadium saw it happen (Aug. 2) in just an instant. The high speed boat driven by Robbie Devine from Corona CA bounced, went airborne and slammed into water.

A rescue crew raced to pull him out of the water; he was transported to a hospital, checked out...and Ross Wallach, Race Director of the Southern CA Speedboat Club, told LBREPORT.com at late afternoon that he's been released.

Steve Brown of Sepia Productions brought time to a standstill in capturing the images below.

Later in the race, another driver was flipped into the water, this one involving Heath Heibert of Bellflower. Race Director Wallach said he's OK too.
