As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, city management's proposed FY16 budget, and recommendations by Mayor Robert Garcia, proposes that the Council continue to no longer fund LBPD's former field anti-gang unit (20 officers + 2 sergeant.) Under Mayor Foster, his former Council majority first cut funding for the field anti-gang unit roughtly in half, then let its funding disappear, and in September 2014, the current Council under Mayor Garcia voted 9-0 for a FY15 budget without funding for the former field anti-gang unit.
