(August 6, 2015, 2:25 p.m.) -- LBPD has released VIDEO and a suspect snapshot in seeking the public's help to identify a suspect it believes responsible for allegedly removing an American flag from the exterior of an ELB residence (Plaza NE of Palo Verde/Spring St.) and allegedly destroying the flag. [LBPD release text] On July 25, 2015, around 8:25 a.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the 6200 block of Pageantry Street regarding a report of vandalism. The preliminary investigation revealed that between 12:25 a.m. and 12:50 a.m., a male suspect removed a 5'x9' nylon American flag from a flagpole and burned it on the street. Around 8:00 a.m., the victims noticed their metal flagpole was leaning against the roof of their residence and realized their flag was missing. The homeowners looked around and found the remnants of the burnt flag on the street in front of a neighbor’s residence and called police. Due to the nature of the crime, arson investigators also responded to begin their investigation. Scroll down for VIDEO below.
