CALL FOR ARGUMENT WRITERS FOR TWO CITY OF LONG BEACH
BALLOT MEASURES APPEARING ON THE NOVEMBER 8, 2016 ELECTION BALLOT

On November 8, 2016, the City of Long Beach will hold a consolidated Special Municipal Election at which voters will consider two ballot measures entitled, Long Beach Marijuana Taxation Measure and Regulation of Medical Marijuana Businesses.

Arguments either FOR or AGAINST the ballot measures are due to the City Clerk by Friday, August 19, 2016, while rebuttal arguments are due by Monday, August 29, 2016. Arguments shall not exceed 300 words and rebuttal arguments shall not exceed 250 words. The public examination period for arguments and rebuttals are August 20, 2016 to August 27, 2016 and August 30, 2016 to September 6, 2016, respectively.

On August 9, 2016, the City Council will consider appointment of argument writers as designated by the Mayor. The Interest Form for Argument Writers is available on the Office of the City Clerk web page at www.longbeach.gov/cityclerk. All interest forms must be received in the Office of the City Clerk, 333 West Ocean Boulevard, Lobby Level, Long Beach, CA 90802, no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 8, 2016. Postmarks are not acceptable. Applications can be submitted via email, fax, mail, and in person. A separate form must be submitted for each ballot measure.

(August 4, 2016, 5:25 p.m.) -- Following-up on a story flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page earlier today, LBPD now confirms that a body found this morning in the area of Willow St. at the San Gabriel River is the result of a homicide and is being investigated as such.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson says LBPD was called to assist LBFD in the 6 a.m. hour after discovery of a deceased man (an adult.) That's all the information we have for now...but with more expected to follow.
