(August 29, 2016, updated Aug. 30) -- Two people were shot in the overnight/early morning hours Monday (Aug.29), roughly a half hour apart: one in the area of 15th St./Gundry Ave. north of MacArthur Park (6th Council district) and perhaps roughly two blocks east of another shooting at a location indicated by the victim but unconfirmed by officers who searched in the darkness for evidence.

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. John Kenaley tells LBREPORT.com that at roughly 1:30 a.m., a man (adult) was struck by gunfire in the area of 15th St./Gundry Ave.; it may have been a "drive-by" (based on a vehicle driving-by in the area) but that's unconfirmed; the victim's wounds are considered Roughly a half hour earlier at about 1:15 a.m., a man (adult) showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound (apparently dropped-off by friends); he said he was shot in the area around 15th St./Walnut [location subsequently updated by LBPD PIO Arrona] just two blocks west of the 15th St./Gundry shooting about a half hour later. Officers searched the 15th St./Walnut area but in the overnight hours were unable to find evidence of a shooting at that location. Lt. Kenaley said LBPD considers the 15th/Walnut shooting unrelated to the 15th St./Gundry shooting.
