(Aug. 26, 2016, 3:55 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com has followed-up on the young man (Nick Cubas, 19, of Downey) found murdered on Aug. 4 in the area of the San Gabriel River/Willow St. LBPD announced today (Aug. 26) that two men (one from Lakewood, one from Downey) have been arrested in connection with the murder but offered few details.

L.A. County District Attorney spokesman Richard Santiago tells LBREPORT.com that the DA's office filed murder charges on Aug. 9 against Jerome Rueben Ortega, 19, of Lakewood, alleging murder with the following special circumstances: murder during a robbery, murder during a kidnapping and murder during a carjacking. Ortego is also charged with kidnapping for carjkacking, kidnapping to commit robbery, carjacking, second degree robber and shooting at an occupied vehicle. The charges also include alleged gang affiliation. Ortega pleaded not guilty on August 22. More recently arrrested (August 25) was Edgar Miguel Espinoza, 18, of Downey, also allegedly in connection with the murder of Mr. Cubas. No charges filed against him at this point by the D.A.
