(August 12, 2016) -- At a midafternoon news conference today (Aug. 12), Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna made a passionate, intense appeal for witnesses or others in the community to share what they know, and a $40,000 reward will now be offered ($20k from L.A. County + $20k from LB City) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murders of Carina Mancera, 26, and her daughter Jennabel Anaya, 4, shot to death at corner of 9th St./Locust Ave. on Saturday night Aug. 6.

At the news conference, Mayor Robert Garcia, flanked by Councilmembers Lena Gonzalez and Dee Andrews, said an agenda item is scheduled for the Aug. 16 LB City Council meeting to seek approval of the City's share of the $20,000 reward; on the same day a similar item will come to L.A. County Board of Supervisors brought Supervisor Don Knabe.
