(August 12, 2016) -- Imagine waking up to find someone has stolen the wheels off your car while it was parked in your driveway. LBREPORT.com has confirmed that this happened last week to a resident in the 5th Council district's South of Conant neighborhood.
The victim came outside to start the day and found their car perched on bricks...with its wheels gone (photo below.) [Scroll down for further.]

LBPD confirms the basics: the victim reported the crime on Friday morning August 5; an officer responded and found the victim's 2016 Honda Accord raised and positioned on top of several bricks with all four tires and rims removed. LBPD took a report and is investigating.
LBREPORT.com asked LBPD if this has been happening elsewhere; they're checking with Detectives. Gary Field of ELB's Lakewood Village Community Watch (roughly 1.5 miles north) tells LBREPORT.com that several trucks and cars in Lakewood and the Long Beach area near Lakewood Village have had their tires/rims stolen. Do you know of similar crimes recently? Tell the victim(s) to tell LBPD, then let us know so we can tell others at mail@LBReport.com.
A number of people on social networks suggested wheel locks (locking lug nuts.) LBPD says it continues to investigate what happened...and recommends offers these generic tips: report suspicious activity; lock vehicles; activate alarms; park in well lighted areas and don't leave packages/items in plain view. Problem is, even if one does all of those the wheels and rims are in plain view.
