(Aug. 29, 2018, 5:15 p.m., updated 5:52 p.m.) -- LBPD tells LBREPORT.com that its Detectives were in the area of Pacific Ave./8th St. (1st Council district) about 3:15 p.m. today (Aug. 29) when they witnessed someone inside a vehicle shoot at a man (adult) who was on the sidewalk. [!]

LBPD Public Information Officer Arantxa Chavarria says the victim ran off (wasn't hit) as the Detectives began to follow [not a pursuit] the suspect vehicle...and a high risk traffic stop was performed on the Anaheim St. onramp to the N. 710 freeway.

LBPD says it took the occupants of the vehicle (two men) into custody and recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.

Detectives also discovered a second uninjured victim (also a man) through their investigation.

Although the motive for the shooting isn't immediately known, LBPD Gang Detectives are handling the investigation.
