(December 28, 2001) -- LBPD says this man is a suspect in a bizarre string of assaults, grabbing women from behind and cutting a large portion of their hair off with either a large knife or scissors.
Police have released the sketch and are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.
Police say he approaches females who are seated near or walking along major streets, grabs them from behind by their hair, cuts a large portion of their hair off, then flees on foot or to his nearby car and drives away.
There have been four reported assaults so far:
- PCH and Chestnut, Dec. 18, 7;15 a.m.
- 7th and Redondo, Dec. 18, 8:15 p.m.
- 7th and Obispo, Dec. 19, 3:00 p.m.
- Anaheim and Cedar, Dec. 22, 3:30 a.m.
Police say the suspect is a white male, 30 to 50 years old, 5'10" to 6'3", medium to heavy build, sandy blonde or light brown hair (with gray possibly in it) with a small mustache and goatee. The suspect vehicle is a light colored (possibly gray, silver or light blue) larger sedan.
