    Two LB Shootings Overnight (Dec. 26-27):8th/Rose & 15th/Henderson; Victims Survive


    (December 27, 2002) -- LBPD says two people were shot on the streets of LB overnight (Dec. 26-27).

  • Area 8th St. & Rose Ave. (2d Council district): At roughly 11:56 p.m. (12-26), a 32 year old woman was leaving a friend's house when a suspect walked up to her vehicle. She tried to flee, heard heard several shots and was hit once in the upper torso. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Suspect is on the loose. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call LBPD's robbery unit at (562) 570-7464.

  • Area 15th St. and Henderson Ave. (1st Council district) : At approximately 2:41 a.m. (Dec. 27), a 50 year old man was walking to his residence when a male Hispanic suspect approached and asked him for some money and jewelry. The victim attempted to walk away from the suspect when the suspect fired several shots, hitting the victim twice in the lower torso.

    The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Suspect is on the loose. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call LBPD's violent crime unit at (562) 570-7250.
